What it is
A website is infrastructure. It has to load quickly on a mid-range phone on a patchy connection, stay upright when a campaign lands, be editable by a marketer without a developer on standby, and be readable by search engines and AI assistants alike. We build to that standard.
How we build
Our stack of choice is Next.js and TypeScript with a headless CMS, which gives you server-rendered pages for search visibility, component reuse across the site, and an editing experience your team will actually use. Where a different stack serves you better — an existing WordPress estate, a Shopify storefront, a bespoke application — we say so rather than forcing a rebuild.
Performance is a requirement, not a phase
Core Web Vitals budgets are set at the start and enforced through the build: responsive images in modern formats, deferred third-party scripts, minimal client-side JavaScript, and caching that survives contact with a traffic spike.
E-commerce and applications
Catalogue, checkout, payments, shipping logic, customer accounts, and the integrations that connect them to your ERP, CRM or fulfilment partner. For applications, we scope tightly, ship in increments, and keep the surface area small enough to maintain.
What you get
Deliverables
Scope is agreed in writing before work starts. These are the components a typical web development engagement includes.
- Technical discovery, architecture and stack recommendation
- Component-based front-end build with a design system
- Headless or traditional CMS integration and editor training
- E-commerce, payments and third-party integrations
- Technical SEO foundations: semantic markup, schema, sitemaps, canonicals
- Accessibility, performance and cross-browser QA before launch
- Deployment, monitoring and a documented handover
Method
How the work runs
Scope
Requirements, integrations and edge cases mapped before a line of code is written.
Architect
Data model, component library, URL structure and performance budgets agreed.
Build
Two-week increments with a staging environment you can review at any point.
Harden
Accessibility, performance, security and content QA, then a rehearsed launch.
Why Sole Digital Media
Three reasons this tends to go well
Marketers can run it
If your team needs a developer to change a headline, the build has failed. Ours are editable.
SEO built in from day one
Semantic structure, schema and crawlability are part of the build, not a retrofit.
Maintained, not abandoned
Ongoing support, security updates and iteration are available after launch.
FAQ
Web Development questions
Next.js and TypeScript with a headless CMS for most projects, plus Shopify for commerce and WordPress where an existing estate makes that the sensible choice.
Yes. We regularly take on inherited codebases for performance work, feature builds or a staged migration rather than a full rebuild.
